Overview

Like many Indigenous Aboriginal dialects, Dharug has become endangered. This project utilises hybrid animation to revive and preserve the language, by creating an interactive game to continue its teaching.

DEVELOPMENT

As well as animating the Kangaroo character on the game, I was tasked to create the background. The background was constructed using assets extracted from paintings made by Joseph Lycett. He was the first European painter who included Indigenous people within his depictions of the Australian Landscape.

First image below is the original Joseph Lycett painting, the one further is the doctored background asset I created.
